    Romp Tracks Empty Romp Tracks

Post by Romp Tue Mar 24, 2009 11:30 pm

    Hello GRF forum users

I'm making this thread so I can nag you with my TMN tracks.
I will update main post whenever I have a new one.

    Latest track:
500 CC Mix - TMX link

My latest "masterpiece" has been lurking on my HD for quite a while now.
I had one guy to test it, but I think he forgot about it and I haven't really pushed on to get feedback on it (so I hope to get some from you).

It's short (duh), 500 CC (duh) and a little mixing (duh) Razz
And I think it should provide some fun online.

Too lazy/cba to make a video of it, so you have to try it to form an opinion.
It's already on USA/**FFS** server, so you can go there and jukebox it if you prefer that(/list newest)

    All my tracks on nationsTMX
Some of them are fun, others pure crap.
The FFS tracks are also available in track packs for easier download (split in 2 packs)
    FFS 01-10
    FFS 11-25

    My top 5:
(the ones I actually like to play online, in no order, and by (bad) memory)
    Easy Mix
    FFS #05
    For Kipj
    Loops-ala-Romp
    FFS #16 v2

Hope some of you will find a few of them enjoyable.
Replays on TMX are always welcome.

    Awards too Wink

I also have a few tracks for TM-Forever (if anyone is interested)
    All my tracks on foreverTMX

    Smile

Thx for kind words guys Smile

Coffee is a good track, and I got very good response on it Smile
I'm so happy I reworked the track, it started as an experiment in adding the cartoon and having audio on it too.
But I figured out that I didn't just want to have a gimick track, so I changed most of the track and got a pretty good result.

I know very little about the media tracker and I did it all by myself by trial and error.
So I learned a few things too.

Uscho you cant push an artist into inspiration... You think that great Michelangelo would do such a great job if people always nagged him and saying to hurry up? I dont think so.. Wink

    lol!
That made me laught quite hard actually.
    I'm not an artist.
I'm just a twat that loves a game, having fun racing and making tracks.

However, some times it's hard to make a track, other times it just flows.
Atm I'm mostly testing tracks on TMX (for my server) and racing online.

    [How I work]
I usually don't have any ideas when I start a track, I just place a start somwhere, add a few blocks, place a finish (anywhere) and hit the validiation button to test how it works.
If it feels ok, I continue building. (and continually test-drive from start)
It's a slow process, but it's the only way that works for me.
After a while of building/testing, I very often get stuck. Then I save it, so I can look at it with fresh eyes/mind later.
I have plenty of unfinished tracks. (a lot of crap)

    @ Uscho
If I make one that I think is good enough for your team, of course I'm more than happy to dedicate it/call it GRF something.
But it has to happen on my terms, and I really can't promise anything.

Why don't you start building yourself?
It is fun. Atleast when you get to grips with the editor and don't have to search for blocks but can just pick them and build.
Doesn't have to be any fancy stuff.
If you think it's fun you will spend hours in the editor building.
It will also make you look at tracks in a different way and for me it brougt a new dimension to the game making it even better.

Thats exactly the same way i build maps, except i usually "steal" some parts from other maps...
For example, i like some part on one map, and i like one part on another map, then i try to make combination of this two + some of my own...
